Journal of European Internal Medicine Professionals (JEIMP)
Last updated: 01 January 2025

1. Editorial Governance and Principles

The Journal of European Internal Medicine Professionals (JEIMP) is governed by an editorial structure designed to ensure scientific excellence, transparency, and editorial independence. The journal adheres to internationally recognized best practices in scholarly publishing and follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Editorial decisions at JEIMP are made exclusively based on scientific merit, originality, methodological rigor, relevance to the journal’s scope, and compliance with ethical standards. The journal maintains full independence from the publisher, partner institutions, sponsors, and affiliated organizations.

2. Editorial Model and Roles

JEIMP operates a multi-layered editorial model comprising Editors-in-Chief, Associate and Section Editors, Statistical Editors, and an international Editorial Board representing multiple subspecialties of internal medicine.

To promote scientific diversity and balanced institutional representation, JEIMP may invite an experienced Guest Editor from a different university or institution for a specific issue. Guest Editors contribute to thematic curation and academic coordination; however, final editorial authority and acceptance decisions remain with JEIMP’s editorial leadership in accordance with the journal’s peer review and ethics policies.

3. Editorial Independence and Decision-Making

JEIMP maintains full editorial independence. Editorial decisions are not influenced by the publisher, institutional partnerships, financial considerations, or personal relationships. All manuscripts are evaluated through an objective and confidential editorial process.

4. Editors as Authors: Conflict of Interest Management and Recusal

JEIMP recognizes that editors may occasionally submit scholarly work to the journal. To prevent any real or perceived conflict of interest, the following safeguards are strictly applied:

  • Full Recusal: Any editor (including Editors-in-Chief, Associate Editors, Section Editors, Editorial Board members, or Guest Editors) who is listed as an author or co-author on a manuscript is fully recused from all editorial handling of that submission.

  • No Access and No Influence: The author-editor has no access to reviewer identities, reviewer reports, internal editorial correspondence, or editorial decisions related to the manuscript.

  • Independent Handling Editor: The manuscript is assigned to an independent editor with no conflict of interest, who has full authority over the peer review process and the final editorial decision.

  • Transparency: All potential conflicts of interest are disclosed and managed in accordance with JEIMP policies and COPE guidance.

5. Peer Review Integrity

JEIMP employs a double-blind peer review system. All submissions are initially screened for scope, quality, and policy compliance. Eligible manuscripts are evaluated by at least two independent expert reviewers. Editorial decisions are based on reviewer assessments and editorial judgment, in line with the journal’s Peer Review Policy.

6. Commitment to Diversity, Quality, and Transparency

JEIMP is committed to fostering multidisciplinary expertise, institutional diversity, and international academic collaboration within its editorial governance. The journal continuously reviews and strengthens its editorial policies to uphold fairness, accountability, and scientific integrity.
